MMC 2126 - Radio and Podcasting

Course Description: 

Speaking on radio and television offers a complete study of creating, writing and broadcasting news. This course combines theory of communications and mass media applied to becoming an effective storyteller.

Learning Objectives: 

By the end of the course the students should be able to:

  • Explain time, balance, organization, writing and appropriate oral delivery of news.

  • Describe the different types of commercials. with specific examples to demonstrate understanding.

  • Explain the concept of the copy and the importance of accurately communicating the intended message.

  • Develop the concept of a commercial with a copy that’s creative, evocative, and responsible.

  • Identify the difference between radio or television commercials.

  • Explain types of interviews considering guest, audience, and tone of the material.

  • Identify the difference between commercials and PSA’s.
