EUH 1000 - Western Civilization - ASYNCHRONOUS

Course Description: 

A historical examination of Western culture from its beginnings in the Near East to the launch of the modern period in the 17th century. This course examines history as a cultural force including the concepts of the political, economic, social, religious, intellectual, cultural, and military aspects of history.

Learning Objectives: 

By the end of the course the students should be able to:

  • Enable students to use facts as “raw material” in making coherent arguments about the past.
  • Explain the influence of the past on contemporary events and problems or, in other words, to develop Historical Mindedness.
  • Identify and analyze significant problems and situations as they relate to the continuing issues of contemporary life.
  • Develop a pattern of deductive reasoning in students by applying a factual basis for the creation of their own fictional historical culture.
  • Explain sources concepts such as primary or secondary sources.
